I live in the Bay Area and work for a publishing company. In my spare time, I work as a freelance researcher, writer, editor, transcriptionist, and permissions guru. If you would like to see a more detailed CV or ask about my rates, drop me a line at kim [dot] hogeland [at] gmail [dot] com.
Other things you may or may not be interested to learn:
- I have a B.A. in history and Native American studies from UC Berkeley and an M.A. in history from UC Davis, and my academic focus has generally been on the cultural and ethnic history of California and the West.
- I enjoy reading crime fiction, travel literature, memoirs, pop culture criticism, and popular histories about pretty much anything.
- My musical tastes range from country to punk, electropop to soul. But my absolute favorite act is the Drive-By Truckers. I talk about them. A lot.
- I am a notary public.
- A short, incomplete list of things I enjoy: parentheses, trivia games, dive bars, the words “excessive” and “flummoxed,” chunky jewelry, college football, and proper hyphen usage.
